Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for all process design, engineering and related activities for execution of Companys custom engineered system, pre- engineered system and pre- manufactures system projects from inquiry stage to handover. He will also perform all above activities for internal development projects. The candidate would be reporting to the HOD- Systems Design Engineering and will co- ordinate with other disciple engineers, project manager / engineering manager, sales manager / engineer. Candidate will also coordinate with Process Technology Development for smooth functioning of its department. PRIMARY ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES: Process Design Engineering Execution of custom engineered system, pre- engineered system and pre- manufactured system projects Co- ordination with Process Technology Development department of PI Cluster for identification of pre- engineered modular systems and execution of such projects Preparation of Process Design Packages / Basic Engineering Package for Modular equipment / plants Basic design detailed engineering of Modular equipment / plants Development of PFD, UFD, control system from DOPE issued by PI Cluster CAPEX and OPEX optimization of System Design Process Equipment sizing selection Thermal design of Heat exchangers Development of P IDs Preparation of PDS for Equipment, Valve, Instrument specifications sheets. Preparation of Equipment, Valve, Instrument and Line Lists Control valve relief valve sizing Process Control Philosophy/ narrative, shutdown philosophy, functional specifications, sequence description etc. Review of General Arrangement drawings and ISOs Hazop Study and Hazop Close- out Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for interdisciplinary reviews Procurement, Construction Assistance Assistance in procurement Vendor Bid Review, Vendor Document Review etc. Development of protocols for Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, Commissioning and Performance Runs Participation in Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Tests Pre- commissioning, Preparation of pre- commissioning and Commissioning Procedures Preparation of manuals and training materials for plant operators and maintenance personnel Preparation of supervisory operating manuals Commissioning Start- up Commissioning, startup / stabilization of plant Conducting Performance Test runs for establishing Process Guarantees Trouble shooting of process parameters during commissioning and start- up of plant Assistance to Project Manager Preparation of project schedule, inspection and test plans, start- up and commissioning planning and co- coordinating any process engineering issues with customer Assistance in cost estimation as required Assistance to sales engineer Proposal engineering including techno- commercial bid preparation, cost estimation, obtaining quotes from vendors, engineering company, consultants etc. Review of Contract clauses relevant to process guarantees, liabilities and test run procedures Assistance to Technology Development Providing engineering design expertise for processes or technologies in development Assistance to Technology Development engineers for optimization process technology from both CAPEX and OPEX point of view Perform technoeconomic analysis and compare i3 Nanotecs process technology to existing/ conventional approaches Engineering of Tests Systems (Bench Scale and Pilot Scale Units) to be used by Process development engineers, scientists and operators Cost Estimation ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistance in Planning and tracking of department budget including in- house and outsourced manpower, CAPEX, OPEX and CSR Assistance Coordination with HR for resource acquisition and assistance in resource selection and handling department personnel issues Identify and track issues and risks for smooth (productive, safe and information security incident free) functioning of department and related functions Assistance in preparing and updating department processes and SOPs Capturing Management of Department Knowledge lessons learnt, best practices etc. Assistance in Cost Accounting for costing of all department activities Assistance in keeping department databases updated and generate MIS reports as required Support Department Compliance Audits M.Tech./ M.S. or B.Tech./ B.S. in Chemical Engineering (Academically bright candidate with good fundamentals) Minimum 10 years experience in Specialty Fine Chemical, Pharma, Biofuels (Distillery, Bio- diesel), Refining, Petrochemical Industry with a process oriented EPC company A minimum of 8 years work experience in process design and basic engineering, PIDs preparation, Separation Equipment sizing, HAZOP Study, preparation of manuals, knowledge of international codes Standards Distillation work experience is must Membrane Adsorption experience is an added advantage Expertise in Steady State process simulators (Aspen, Hysys, UNISIM, PRO/ II, ChemCAD etc.) Experience in FEED activities Experience with control system software FAT Experience with start- up and commissioning of process plants Experience with drafting software viz. AutoCAD and review of 3D models Good knowledge of project management software such as MS Project Ability for development of SOPs and other necessary documentation Overseas work experience is a big plus CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES/ TRAININGS: Professional trainings and certifications in the field of Process simulators (Aspen, Hysys, UNISIM, PRO/ II, ChemCAD etc.), Process Design and Optimization Professional certifications trainings in the field of Process Intrinsic safe design, LOPA etc are added plus points Training in Engineering Management, Project management, Microsoft office Suite, drafting software viz. These include market intelligence, business development, Sales, proposal engineering, cost estimation, transfer budgeting and customer service. This position requires close interaction with Head of Cluster Process Intensification (Research Development) regarding market intelligence, business and product development. This position requires co- ordination with project dept., engineering dept., technology marketing, process design and licensing and applications laboratory. Increasing client footprint through enhancing the awareness of Companys technologies and products organize workshops/ symposia Inquiry generation and inquiry handling including inquiry qualification, bid- won and bid- lost analysis Identify and track market trends and risks to business Proposal engineering and proposal making including costing, handling commercial tax matters and required co- ordination with all stakeholders Arrange technology demo as required Manage client interface in pre- and post proposal stages Prepare transfer budget for projects post- sales Assist Project Manager and other departments in post- sales activities during execution phase for customer related escalations. Co- ordinate post- handover customer service activities Conduct customer satisfaction surveys Development of brochures, presentations and other marketing materials Identifying pre- engineered system and system leasing opportunities Identify effective methodologies for sales and identify sales reps, OEMs and value- added resellers Identifying and implementing solutions, tools for improving the department productivity quick costing, templatized proposals and contracts etc. Participation in process scale- up, technology commercialization, process licensing efforts and key corporate strategic decisions Participation in formulation of Companys IP strategy Assistance in performing techno- economic analysis to establish merits of Companys process technology over existing/ conventional approaches Planning and tracking of department budget including in- house and outsourced manpower, CAPEX, OPEX and CSR Coordination with HR for resource acquisition and assistance in resource selection and handling department personnel issues Identify and track issues and risks for smooth (productive, safe and information security incident free) functioning of department and related functions. Coordinating payment activities like Letter of Credit, bank guarantees (ABG/ PBG) and other necessary financial instruments for payment. Coordination, as required, with HR for resource acquisition and assistance in resource selection and handling department personnel issues Preparing and updating department processes and SOPs.
