Job Description

Purpose:
  • There is a requirement for a Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineer, reporting to the Infrastructure Architect, who will be responsible for designing and delivering infrastructure solutions from the ground up.
  • The candidate will be working with innovative hardware, operating systems, hypervisors, containers, databases, software defined networks and software defined storage to build out the Bank s next generation of cloud computing solutions.
  • This is a role with an emphasis on Cloud offerings ensuring fully automated integration into the banks ecosystem whilst at the same time ensuring that the offerings meet customer requirements and are fully engineered and available for both Private and Public cloud.
  • We are looking for a result oriented, self-starter who will be able to dive deep into problems and think outside of the box to create production ready solutions.
  • The candidate will be part of Banking and Transaction Banking ISDM team.
Key Roles Responsibilities:
  • Strong knowledge of various AWS Resources (primarily EC2, S3, ELB, VPC, Subnets, NAT, RDS, KMS, IAM) and how to securely implement various resources with industry best practice with security in the heart of whole implementation.
  • Interact with application team to understand the various software requirement on EC2.
  • Work with Solution architect to understand various AWS resources requirement for the application
  • Provide recommendations to optimize the AWS resources deployment
  • Provide end to end deployment automation of AWS resources using Terraform scripting and Jenkins pipeline
  • Well verse with Shell script to implement post installation tasks to automate various software installations on EC2
  • Create topology for blue-green deployment where the whole deployment can be implemented by amending any latest approved AMI image.
  • Ensure everything that s deployed via terraform is fully integrated as one solution.
  • Engage with vendors and architects to determine strategic direction and align implementations accordingly.
  • Works with security and compliance teams to ensure solutions conform to bank and industry standards.
  • Establish best engineering practices through solid design decisions, processes, and tools.
  • Provide expert advice to development and support teams to create robust production AWS offerings that are highly available, scalable and can cope with burst demand.
  • Champion Agile best-practices, processes, and tools in support of DevOps processes.
Special responsibilities for:
  • Ensuring that Standard Chartered own images in the cloud environments are fully consistent with Bank audit and compliance requirements and fully consistent with the design ethos and technical requirements of external and internal cloud providers.
  • Ensuring that all relevant platforms are being efficiently and appropriately supported in SCB CI/CD toolchains, including identifying opportunities for toolchain and operational practise improvements.
  • Supporting adoption of containers and container control frameworks for external and internal Cloud Services, including container platform selection and design, cost and license planning and ensuring that self-service design/deployment/control web containers is appropriate for requirements.
Governance:
  • Rationalize standardized way of AWS resource deployment across the domain.
  • Rationalize standardized way of installing various software s across domain.
  • Promote re-usability of various terraform scripts and shell script to rollout deployments in AWS.
  • Understand and comply with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions; the Group s policies and procedures; and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters.
Technology Competencies:
Required - deep expertise in AWS not limited to:
  • Software Defined compute, storage, networks (SDDC).
  • Networking, VPC, DirectConnect, ELB, Route 53, Cloud Front
  • Cloud security, policies, IAM
  • RDS Postgres
Required - expertise with:
  • Shell scripting
  • Linux Administration Troubleshooting
  • Container technology - Docker / Podman
  • Container Orchestration - RedHat OpenShift / Kubernetes
  • Strongly advantageous - experience of deploying and controlling virtual machines in a cloud services environment, preferably with Amazon Web Services
  • Required - experience and expertise in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practise, tooling and techniques (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, git; Jenkins, Artifactory, Terraform, Rundeck, Ansible)
  • Required - experience with at least one of data analytics tools such as Splunk and/or ELK.
  • Required - Ability to write code. Ideally in Python or Perl or bash.
  • Strongly advantageous - experience and demonstrable accomplishments as a DevOps or automation engineer.
  • Strongly advantageous - experience of successful and demonstrable achievements in collaborative working with compliance, technology risk and regulatory requirement specialists.
  • Advantageous - extensive experience and demonstrable accomplishments in selecting, designing and implementing automation and compliance frameworks that are applied to virtual compute resource deployments in the cloud.
  • Advantageous - deep experience in multi-tier application architecture, development, deployment and support.
Qualifications:
  • Established professional with 10 or more years working in IT Infrastructure Technologies, including IT Infrastructure Delivery and Migrations, Operations Support, Cloud, DevOps and Engineering activities.
  • Licences and Certifications / accreditations - Associate or Professional level of AWS Certification (SA, SysOps), ITIL v3.
