Software Engineer (Java, J2EE) @ United Health Group

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain Java applications within all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

• Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes

• Work closely on monitoring tools like Splunk, New Relic, Dynatrace, and implement various monitoring ideas for CBAs

• Trace issues back to the root cause quickly, based on raw input/telemetry i.e. being able to understand what it typically means when thread counts go up, or connections in use gets larger, how a latency spike might impact available connection pool, etc.

• Communicate effectively with Business users, other engineers and QA

• Establish, refine and integrate development and test environment tools and software as needed

• Identify production and non-production application issues

• Identify opportunities to fine-tune and optimize applications of Java developed projects

• Provide technical support and consultation for Java application and infrastructure questions

• Serve as a mentor to less experienced developers

Required Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong communication skills

• Flexibility to work on On-Call Production issues & late shifts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare industry experience

• Oracle
