Job Description
We are looking for Database Engineer with DevOps expertise a plus. Must have experience managing large scale database services and applications. Experience with highly available/fault tolerant, transaction processing systems and operating complex services running in public cloud environments is desirable. A passion for data and data systems is a must.
Role & Responsibilities: In this role you will be responsible for databases along with system & application management and support. Participating in development and operational reviews to maintain our high development and operational standards. Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly database applications, reports, dashboards & etc. that will support our analytics and operational business needs. Design, build, and manage database solutions and tools that store, retrieve, and analyze data from AWS data sources (ex. Aurora Mysql, S3, DynamoDB) Write high quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. MySQL, Cassandra), and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon s data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use. Design , deploy and manage Aurora MySQL failover and DR capabilities. Design , deploy and manage Aurora MySQL failover and DR capabilities. Working with development teams to fine tune Aurora databases and SQL's . Deploying and validating databases changes during release cycle. Update and maintain documentation Automate functions to improve overall team process Work closely with engineering team on new project implementations and application performance tuning. Work closely with IT and AWS support to keep our systems and applications running smoothly Be a part of the 24x7x365 on-call support team on rotation basis.
Qualifications/Required Skill : At least 7+ years of work experience in a UNIX/Linux based operating systems ( on-prem and AWS cloud a plus) Must have experience in design, development and maintenance of relational databases especially MySQL Stores procedures, function. Must have experience in performance tuning and query optimization. Must have experience in performing administrative (installation, configuration, replication & troubleshooting) tasks related to management of MySQL. Good to have experience in managing and maintaining Amazon Aurora (MySQL) Clusters. Must have strong SQL coding and tuning experience. Develop/Enhance database PL/SQL scripts to migrate from source database to target database Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl). Must have good analytical skills and experience related to handling large data volumes. Must have prior experience in working with Oracle 11g database. Must have prior experience in using oracle analytical functions. Experience with Cassandra is a plus Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios, Cacti and Zabbix Familiarity with configuration manangement tools like CFAgent, Puppet a plus Familiarity with version control systems e.g. CVS, Git Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.) Knwoledge of Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning. Experience with application mangement and support is plus.
