We're looking for a Director Product Engineering who will manage the delivery and operations of a portfolio of technical products / projects and lead the engineering teams delivering these capabilities. This role also owns the budget, staffing and the processes related to the same, and is accountable for the effectiveness and continuous improvement of these organizational capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and leadership to tech leads and engineers focused on developing new products and rapidly developing and deploying enhancements to the existing products.
- Ensure that product architecture and technology decisions support corporate strategies and the future direction of the products.
- Manage software development, operations and support of software technology product lines, lead the delivery and evolution of the product functions, non-functional requirements and experience and own and innovate around related processes.
- Determine, justify and obtain approvals for project resources, personnel, and budget necessary for projects
- Work closely with the senior leadership and cross functional teams and provide technical insight and judgment on feature / schedule / cost trade-offs and related value creation.
- Continuously appraise the effectiveness of software development and operations through objective metrics and chart the course for improvement.
- Play a key role in hiring engineering and product development talent to build core platforms and systems and be involved with training and mentoring, so as to create a world class product organization.
Desired Candidate profile :
- 10+ years of experience developing web applications backed by big data / AI / cloud delivery capabilities in fast-paced environment
- Technically hands on (not afraid to roll up his sleeves and architect / design / code / test / troubleshoot) ideally someone whos moved from a tech lead role to product delivery
- Experience managing, engaging and inspring highly motivated and skilled tech leads and engineers across multiple teams in the organization.
- Ability to make judgement calls in the face of ambiguity by evaluating trafeoffs and executing and making course corrections along the way.
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, the leadership and internal / external stakeholders. Ability to communicate across different layers is key.
- Previous background analysing and improving work processes and value chains and demonstrated positive outcomes.
- Strong strategic planning and program management skills.

- Comfortable with a broad set of web, middleware, integration and backend technologies (example Java, Javascript, React, databases, SQL and NoSQL technology alternaives, caching, web servers, messaging platforms), public cloud providers and related tech stacks, big data, spark / Scala, AI / NLP / NLU/ Chatbots, RPA tools, different architecture paradigms and related tradeoffs, CI / CD Pipelines, production monitoring (example ELK stack), SRE capabilities and support.
