Technical Program Manager @ Extreme Networks

Key Responsibilities

• Doing program governance and execution for delivering products and releases with strong customer focus

• Deeply engage with product management and engineering doing requirement reviews, feature prioritization, scoping, resourcing, scheduling, progress tracking, defect management, beta programs, product release, and product maintenance.

• Work with large number of cross functions including documentation, TAC, marketing, customer account, legal, logistics, lab support, IT support teams to deliver products in a smoother fashion

• Manage vendor relationships by maintaining a regular and structured governance process on all operations items such as hiring, training, productivity, attrition and work proactively with vendors to identify and put improvement plans in place

• Create and manage schedules and budgets working in Agile development models

• Manage product requests, analyzing the impact and ensuring change management

• Create program reports and dashboards for management and stakeholders

• Identify and manage internal stakeholders, keep them informed, helping them align their procedures with changing/evolving strategies

• Planning Tracking Reviewing and Process Management

• Act as a scrum master, help to adopt and executing agile practices

• Facilitating agile ceremonies, tracking action items

• Help product owners with the roadmap, epics, user stories and manage backlogs.

• Negotiate scope and timelines with technical dependencies

• Helps the team write better user stories, tasks, requirements, and issues

• Help team with estimations techniques, sprint planning, and tracking

• Create dashboards to track productivity, progress, and other KPIs

• Ensure quality assurance procedures on each story and task

• Identify risks, evaluate with stakeholders, help in creating mitigation plans and escalate those risks appropriately with the management

• Track dependencies and alert stakeholders to ensure timely delivery

• Escalate and resolve issues and clear impediments across the cross functions

• Ensure consistency in practices, vocabulary, and framework across teams.

• Track and create RCA for program delays, production issues, critical paths missed etc

• Communication Collaboration

• Provide key status updates on metrics, program/project status, and other initiatives

• Provide detailed updates in support of the preparation and management of leadership

• Ability to communicate concisely clearly and with confidence with senior leadership

• Support the coordination, preparation, and delivery of company wide engineering updates

• Excellent ability to motivate others to complete their assignments without being a Chief Chasing Officer

• Have a passion for technology, ability to quickly learn, build upon past experiences and deliver innovations.

• Create quality metrics, understand security requirements, clear license issues etc

• Dive into required technical depth and provide inputs including design suggestions, implementation issues and testing aspects

Key Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in both technical and non-technical program/project management

• Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience, MBA a plus

• Accountable, can do and get things done attitude, independent and resourceful

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the goal post is changing constantly

• Strong aptitude for problem solving and rolling out solutions

• Experience prioritizing competing demands, scoping large efforts and negotiating timelines

• Experience in building processes, agile and waterfall methodologies and doing program governance

• Experience in communicating with technical, non-technical stakeholders with various cross functions and across multiple business units

• Expert in using project management tools like Jira

• Experience in designing and building large-scale tech solutions

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in embedded programming, Layer2/Layer3 networking protocols and cloud infrastructure technologies

• PMP and Agile certifications

• Excellent knowledge of MS office and Agile tracking tools
