Software Lead Engineer - Qa - Chennai - Assa @ Assa Abloy

The QA Automation Lead Engineer position will work closely with a team of mobile backend developers. The Lead QA Engineer is expected to validate product quality by performing manual and automated functional and non-functional testing. QA Engineers will be embedded with the development team and will write test cases in parallel to developing user stories.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Be responsible for the testing of individual features and work packages and, as and when appropriate, to perform these activities in conjunction with other internal HID teams or external suppliers.

• Design and implement the latest methods and technologies to automate testing reduce manual testing with emphasis on API, mobile SDK plus Web App GUI driven approaches.

• Propose and agree the most optimum test strategies and test plans as per the requirement.

• Participate in daily stand-up meetings to assess current status and plan the day s activities

• Provide input on User Story creation from the testing perspective

• Create Test Plans, Test Scripts, Test Cases and Test Data

• Record test results (open new tickets, close existing tickets)

• Attend design meetings with Developers, Test Automation Engineers and Architects and provide perspective to improve testability

• Triage issues reported in the field by attempting to recreate in local test environment

• Learn, define and establish test automation strategies

• Install, configure and operate the product in test and production environments

• Work in a team with agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, pair programming, etc.)

• Collaborate with Product Owner(s) on user requirements for user stories epics.

• Review the solution design to verify the requirements have been correctly implemented and to ensure that good engineering design practices have been followed.

Required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Web and mobile application testing experience is required

• Ability to write meaningful test cases and, execute test cases and record results

• Knowledge of testing methodologies and how to apply them (white box, equivalence class partitioning, pairwise, state transition, boundary value, decision table)

• Experience with at least one test Test Case Management tool (TestRail, Zehpyr, EggPlant, TestLodge, etc)

• Excellent experience on automated API testing using ReadyAPI and Postman

• Proven experience in test automation (preferably using Appium and/or Selenium)

• Experience creating automated test scripts in suitable programming language (e.g. javascript, python, java, groovy, etc)

• Stress/load/performance testing experience is required using tools like jmeter

• Solid knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle, software concepts, test methodologies and their application

• Strong backend testing experience is critical

• Ability to adapt quickly to a complex environment and to learn or implement new functionality, domain and tools

• Experience in Agile or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) metholodogies preferred

• Understanding of Change and Release Management

• Self-motivated with high degree of organizational skills

Preferred

• Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required

• 9+ years of overall experience in Test/QA

• Qualifications in manual and/or automated testing

• REST API testing experience

• Redis or postgresql database experience with ability to query data as required

• Experience with Docker and Selenium

• Experience with Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence, etc

• Experience with industry standard CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, SonarCloud, and Bitbucket pipelines.

• BDD and TDD testing experience is a value add

• Experience in Test automation like Cucumber, Pact is an added advantage

• Experience with at least one Cloud platform: AWS, Azure, Google, CloudFoundry, OpenStack, etc. and web services

• Experience in security and/or penetration testing using tools like Burp Suite.

• Experience in testing mobile SDKs would be beneficial

Language Skills

• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

Computer Skills

• Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

• Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
