Lead Software Engineer - Backend (Java) Company Overview: Birdeye Inc. is a global leader in customer experience management, empowering businesses with innovative solutions to enhance customer interactions and drive growth. Job Description: We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer with strong leadership skills and technical expertise in Java, Spring framework, Kafka, MySQL, and NoSQL databases. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading and mentoring teams, delivering scalable backend solutions, and driving technical excellence. Responsibilities: Lead a team of backend engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring framework. Architect and implement scalable solutions for real-time data processing using tools like Kafka and NiFi. Manage and optimize large-scale data storage and retrieval with MySQL and NoSQL databases. Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and scalable software solutions. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to team members, and promote best practices in software development. Drive initiatives for improving performance, reliability, and security of backend systems. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 6 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on backend development. Expertise in Java and the Spring framework, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing complex systems. Proven experience with Kafka and NiFi for event-driven architectures and large-scale data processing. Deep understanding of MySQL and NoSQL databases, with experience in optimizing and managing large datasets.
