Sr Research Associate @ Ameriprise

The role is responsible for providing support to the the Responsible Investment team within Columbia Threadneedle Investments, an Ameriprise Financial company. This role will provide ESG data and risk analysis to various fund companies and on issues impacting the funds. It will require to play a generalist role supporting the Responsible Investment Research team with research on the ESG performance of companies. The individual may also support the development, articulation, and enablement of Columbia Threadneedle Investments strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible, Sustainable and SDG funds:

• Screening for Responsible, Sustainable, SDG Funds - ensuring compliance of names with the funds ESG policies and relevant ESG regulations
• Liaising with PMs to provide further research insights and collating engagement agendas to support on-desk engagement

ESG Regulatory requirements:

• Supporting compliance of funds committed to ESG labels - for example: SFDR (Article 8 and 9 funds), ESMA (PAB exclusions), SDR (focus and impact label funds).
  • Assessing companies against relevant product and conduct exclusions, SDG mapping checks and PAI assessments.
  • Support with impact assessments pre-investment for SDR impact label funds.
  • Support with quarterly audit of good governance (GG) and ESGM assessments; in addition, carrying out pre-GG assessment checks for grey area quasi-sovereign names
  • Support with Net Zero assessments for out-of-scope names.

Other portfolio constraints:

• Assessing potential breaches of other funds with ESG policies; as well as helping to ensure correct exclusions are coded into Aladdin.
• Research and narrative support on any fund labels (FNG/Febelfin)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in or any related fields and/or MBA ()
• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in ESG/Responsible Investment/Sustainability for a global financial services firm
• Exceptional communication skills (needs to effectively work and stay in touch with global colleagues across different business units)
• Outstanding research analytical skills. Ability to manage and interpret large amounts of data
• Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Excellent organizational and project management skills to track and manage multiple deliverables with various process steps and deadlines
• Team player and collaborative, but can also work autonomously, both with a critical focus on ensuring consistent delivery

Preferred Qualifications
Asset management experience preferred
