Job Description

    Purpose of the role The role exists to conceptualize and develop strategy for Automotive Lighting and Integration of Body Electronics components in E&E architecture, to meet program targets of quality, cost & time for entire range of PVBU and EVBU vehicles along with integration of lighting technologies and development of competencies for future growth. Job Responsibilities Innovation and Technology roadmap development: Scan technology implications influencing automotive lighting & body electrical/ electronic components. Keep abreast with attribute & Technology trends and relevant technology providers Review & approve feasibility of application of new technologies over a time horizon Review developments in PESTAL on vehicle development, customer/ vendors and channel partners feedback on engineering/performance of product & services Review the development of technologies that are critical for TML's product portfolio as per Tata Motors Product development roadmap Review all milestones of TCDS process Ensure generation of IPR ideas, review documentation and oversee submission for patents. Develop Capability & Competency Identify skills & capabilities required in Automotive Lighting & integration of Body electrical/ electronic components in E&E architecture Identify, plan & develop relevant tools & technologies for product engineering based on benchmarking Assess current capabilities & Create short and medium term engineering capability plans to achieve functional objectives Product Development Review critical issues & provide technical expertise for resolution of issues. Review & approve PMXU and attribute target for new products in pre KO phase Implement best practices (design standards, automation & processes) to find and resolve issues at an early stage, shorten the product development lifecycle, enhance the design quality, reduce the development risks and be first time right Review & approve standard aggregate timelines in coherence to NPI Ensuring right balance of resources & budgets for the project Guide and Review cost effective solutions and propose implementation in the project Judge quality risk and decide on deviation approvals for technical issues & timelines Product Sustenance Review and drive corrective measures on Quality issues wrt engineering and implement the learning in Engineering Product Development Processes Evaluate VA/VE initiatives & ensure implementation in existing products for profitability People Development Cascade of BSC targets to individual KRAs. Monitor performance and provide individual feedback to direct and wherever necessary indirect reports. Ensure distribution of responsibilities by deploying the RACI tool. Capture the current and future skills and competency requirements for all roles in CoC. Monitor and take corrective measures to bridge gaps in skills and competencies for the department. Communications & Nature of Communications INTERNAL Review Technology & aggregate roadmap of CoC Review common aggregate development planning & progress Review NPI Project delivery progress Review Quality and VAVE progress Competency plan discussion Drive resolution of critical issues Review project planning & progress delivery as per Gen 3 NPI. Ensuring right balance of resources for the project Review & sign off PMXU & attribute targets of projects Review progress of VAVE & quality issues Co-develop future Attributes Drive resolution of critical issues Discuss impact of upcoming aggregates on architecture Review PAT- PMXU compatibility Review technology roadmap planning & TCDS project delivery. Competency development planning through technology projects Planning of technology driven common aggregates & budgets Review Engineering assessment of suppliers Participate in sourcing council for selection of supplier Review critical Supplier quality issues Review Design themes and enable with engineering solutions Review critical quality risks in new product manufacturing process Participate in Manufacturing Technology roadmap development Develop new levers & capabilities for VAVE EXTERNAL Review supplier technology roadmap. Review critical part development progress. Critical issue management Engage for new competency and capacity extension. Review technology and project progress. Desired candidate's Profile Graduation in Engineering 18+ years of experience in engineering and development of automotive lighting Knowledge of automotive lighting products, development process and technologies optical, thermal, plastics & electrical/ electronic engineering Knowledge of E&E architecture and integration of body electrical electronic components in E&E architecture Experience of leading at least 2 full product engineering cycles Experience of new technology integration / development.
