Job Description
1. Patient Demographics & Insurance Verification:
- Accurately enter patient information into billing systems.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits via portals or phone.
- Update insurance details and coverage accurately to avoid claim denials.
2. Charge Entry:
- Input accurate charges based on medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
- Review claims for completeness, proper modifiers, and documentation before submission.
3. Claims Submission:
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers via clearinghouses or direct portals.
- Track and correct rejections from clearinghouses or payers.
4. Payment Posting:
- Post payments received through EOBs, ERAs, and patient payments.
- Identify underpayments, overpayments, and take necessary action for resolution.
5. Accounts Receivable (AR) Follow-up:
- Follow up with insurance companies on outstanding claims via phone calls and portals.
- Identify reasons for claim denials, rejections, or delays and take corrective action.
6. Denial Management:
- Analyze denial trends and work on appeals or corrections.
- Coordinate with coding or provider teams for any documentation or coding issues.
7. Patient Billing & Collections:
- Generate patient statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Address patient queries professionally regarding their bills.
8. Reporting & Compliance:
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to collections, AR, and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer-specific billing guidelines.
