Job Description
- Operating Machine Tools: Machinists use a variety of machines, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines, to shape and cut metal parts.
- Interpreting Technical Drawings: They analyze blueprints, specifications, and drawings to understand the required dimensions, tolerances, and machining processes.
- Setting Up Machines: Machinists prepare machines for operation by setting speeds, feeds, and selecting the appropriate tooling.
- Monitoring Production: They closely observe the machining process, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Quality Control: Machinists inspect finished parts using measuring instruments and gauges to ensure they meet the required specifications and tolerances.
- Machine Maintenance: They perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, to keep machines in good working order.
- Safety Compliance: Machinists adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
