Aix Administrator @ Pentagon System

Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced AIX Administrator to manage and support AIX-based systems and infrastructure. The role involves installation, configuration, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting of IBM AIX servers to ensure optimal system performance and uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM AIX systems (LPARs and VIOS) on POWER servers.
  
• Perform daily system monitoring, verify integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, and systems.
  
• Handle user administration, disk space management, and file system configuration.
  
• Patch management, OS upgrades, kernel updates, and system backups.
  
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and coordinate with IBM support when required.
  
• Manage NIM (Network Installation Manager) for deployment and management of AIX images.
  
• Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance requirements.
  
• Configure and manage LVM (Logical Volume Manager), performance tuning, and system optimization.
  
• Work closely with application teams to support and deploy enterprise applications.
  
• Document procedures, system configurations, and standard operating practices.
  

Required Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM AIX (v6.x, v7.x).
  
• Knowledge of HMC (Hardware Management Console), LPAR, and VIOS setup.
  
• Experience with NIM, LVM, and system backups (mksysb, savevg).
  
• Familiarity with scripting (Shell/Perl/Python) for automation.
  
• Understanding of networking, SAN storage, and clustering concepts.
  
• Exposure to ITIL processes and tools like ServiceNow (preferred).
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  
• IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - AIX (preferred).
  
• Minimum 3 years of relevant AIX administration experience.
