Role Description:
As a Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining critical storage infrastructures,
ensuring optimal performance, and leading storage-related projects. Your expertise in Fiber Channel SAN
technologies, storage array configurations, and maintenance activities will drive the stability and efficiency of our
systems. This role involves incident resolution, system upgrades, and vendor coordination to meet organizational
goals.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Storage Design and Implementation
- Design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade storage solutions using VMAX, VNX, NetApp, and Brocade
technologies.
- Configure and implement multipathing for storage LUNs and NAS connectivity.
- Oversee the setup of fabric switches and manage SAN technologies.
2. Storage Management and Maintenance
- Create and manage users, groups, and associated permissions.
- Perform physical storage management, including creating aggregates, volumes, Qtrees, snapshots, and
snap restores.
- Conduct regular evaluations and maintenance, including patches, updates, and system checks, to ensure
stability and security.
- Implement monitoring practices to track storage performance and promptly resolve issues.
3. Incident and Problem Management
- Manage all types and levels of incidents within the storage environment.
- Lead refresh activities and resolve technical issues in Fiber Channel SAN technologies.
- Troubleshoot and mitigate storage-related problems in a timely manner.
4. Vendor Management
- Collaborate with vendors for troubleshooting, support, and hardware or software upgrades.
- Ensure SLA compliance and manage vendor relationships for long-term partnership success.
Skills:
Technical Skills
- 7+ years experience.
- Expertise in Fiber Channel SAN technologies: VMAX, VNX, and Brocade.
- Hands-on experience with NetApp storage systems and SAN switches.
- Proficiency in storage provisioning, LUN management, and NAS configurations.
- Familiarity with storage monitoring tools and practices.
- Strong understanding of physical storage concepts, including snapshots and snap restores.
Soft Skills
- Problem-solving mindset with strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Time management and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment.
Education:
Bachelors degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
