Job Description
Power BI Admin with experience in Power Platform Admin
Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance and Security:
- Implement and maintain data governance policies for Power BI, ensuring data access is secure, compliant, and aligned with organizational standards.
- Establish best practices for report sharing and collaboration while ensuring security.
2.Fabric Administration:
- The administrator will be responsible for Microsoft Fabric administration, ensuring seamless orchestration of data engineering, data science, and business intelligence workflows. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining pipelines, optimizing dataflows, and managing data integration tasks across various organizational systems. The administrator will leverage Microsoft Fabric's capabilities to support advanced analytics and ensure efficient handling of complex, large-scale data workloads. The candidate will enforce governance policies, such as data retention and access controls, within the Microsoft Fabric environment to ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory compliance standards.
2. Tenant Migration:
- Plan, manage, and execute tenant migration for Power BI across regions (e.g., from West India to Central India), ensuring minimal disruption.
- Work closely with Microsoft support to request and manage tenant moves while ensuring that all Power BI content, including reports, datasets, and workspaces, is migrated correctly.
3. Capacity Management:
- Monitor and manage Power BI Premium capacity, ensuring that the workloads are distributed efficiently to avoid performance bottlenecks.
- Assess and adjust Power BI Premium capacities based on usage patterns, scaling resources to meet demand and optimizing resource allocation.
- Conduct regular performance assessments of Power BI reports, dashboards, and data refresh processes to ensure smooth operation.
- Troubleshoot capacity-related issues such as slow report performance, dataset refresh failures, and resource allocation.
4.Powerbi Administration:
- Manage Power BI workspaces, datasets, and report sharing. Monitor data refresh schedules and optimize report performance. The administrator will also monitor resource utilization and optimize report performance to ensure seamless user experience. By implementing robust governance frameworks, including user access controls, dataset certification, and report sharing guidelines, the candidate will ensure compliance with organizational data policies. Additionally, regular audits of Power BI environments will be conducted to maintain data integrity and security. Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting and performance tuning on Power will be essential to excel in this role.
4. Report Optimization and Best Practices:
- Promote best practices for report design and performance optimization to ensure that reports load quickly and are easy to interpret.
- Provide guidance on the efficient use of DAX, data models, and Power Query to optimize large datasets, improving report performance and user experience.
- Advise on aggregations, direct query, and incremental refresh to improve the performance of large reports and data models.
- Work with the development team to ensure consistent report formatting, standardized metrics, and visual best practices across the organization.
- Conduct training and workshops on Power BI best practices to empower business users in creating optimized reports.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain clear documentation for Power BI configurations, tenant migration procedures, and capacity management guidelines.
- Provide regular reports on capacity utilization, performance trends, and user activity within Power BI environments.
- Assist with the creation of a knowledge base for Power BI administrators and users.
6. Power Platform Administration:
Manage and maintain the Power Platform environment, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI/Fabric, and Power Virtual Agents. Ensure a stable and secure environment by applying best practices for governance and administration.
7. Certifications:
Microsoft certifications such as PL-900 (Power Platform Fundamentals), PL-100 (Power Platform App Maker), or PL-400 (Power Platform Developer) or PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst Associate) or DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate) will be added advantage.
