Job Description

    As a Principal Support Engineer at Oracle, you will be a vital member of the Support organization. Your primary focus will be delivering post-sales support and solutions to Oracle customers, while also advocating for customer needs. You will play a crucial role in resolving post-sales technical queries related to Electronic Support Services, serving as a key point of contact for customers and providing guidance to both customers and internal Oracle employees on various customer situations and escalated issues. Your role will involve offering strategic technical support to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. You will leverage automated technology and instrumentation to diagnose, document, and resolve/avoid customer issues. As an expert member of the technical problem-solving team, you will be sought after to address complex and critical customer issues. Additionally, you may be required to provide on-site customer visits for service delivery. In this position, your responsibilities will include fixing and resolving highly complex technical issues on Oracle Exadata, covering various database areas such as Real Application Clusters, High Availability, Data Guard, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Storage, Security, and more. You will work closely with customers, support engineers, and developers to ensure a superior ownership experience for customers. Over time, you will have the opportunity to specialize in Database, Exadata, and Cloud technologies, becoming a recognized authority in these domains. As a Support engineer, you will engage in fixing highly complex technical problems, working directly with customers, participating in weekend rotations and shifts, and contributing to initiatives that enhance product quality. You will also play a key role in driving improvements in product quality, acting as a Situation Manager on critical customer issues, and consulting with both customers and management on problem resolution. To excel in this role, you should have over 10 years of industry experience and hold a technical degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Possessing Oracle OCP DBA certification and OCI Certification is preferred, with OCM DBA Certification considered a plus. You should be self-driven, possess strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate excellent customer support abilities. Additionally, you must be willing to work in high-pressure situations, have effective communication skills, and be open to learning new technologies. In terms of technical skills, you should have hands-on experience in Database administration on UNIX/Linux platforms and be familiar with Oracle database features, Exadata, Cloud architectures, and various technologies related to database management. Your expertise should cover areas such as Real Application Cluster (RAC), ASM/Storage, Backup and Recovery, Performance Tuning, Networking, Database Security, and more. A strong understanding of UNIX/Linux concepts and administration is essential, with experience in operating systems being an added advantage.
