1.5. Job Description
The Research Associate will support the Centre and coordinate research activities across various Centres and Schools of IIIDEM in the field of democracy and election management. The role includes conducting studies, managing documentation and digitization of electoral data, and assisting in academic programmes such as fellowships, internships, and scholarly publications.
1.6. Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the job include the following
(i) Electoral Research and Study Support Conduct, support, and coordinate research projects on political processes, electoral systems, and democratic institutions in India and other democracies.
(ii) Review and Analysis of Past Studies Revisit and review existing literature and research studies to identify gaps and opportunities for further exploration in the field of electoral management.
(iii) Documentation and Digitization Organize and digitize important election-related data, reports, events, and archives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive digital resource center.
(iv) Academic Programme Facilitation Assist in the design and execution of internship, fellowship, and scholarship programmes related to electoral research and innovation
(v) Content Development for Knowledge Resources Prepare research papers, briefing notes, knowledge products, and background material for training and policy input.
1.7. Skills & Competencies
(i) Strong research and analytical skills in political and electoral studies
(ii) Excellent academic writing and documentation skills
(iii) Skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods
(iv) Skills in data organization, digital archiving, and referencing tools
1.8. Desirables
(i) PhD student (pursuing or completed) particularly in the field of political science, social sciences and related areas,
(ii) Experience in training, teaching, electoral studies, governance and public policy
(iii) Published research in peer-reviewed journals or electoral studies reports
(iv) Experience in managing fellowships or internships in academic/ research institutions
(v) Exposure to international electoral practices or comparative politics
(vi) Experience in think tanks, election commissions, or academic institutions
