Senior Software Engineer Ruby On Rails (LLM) @ Photovoltaic Solar

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Ruby On Rails software engineers (tech lead level) for a contractual position. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to high-quality public GitHub repositories with 5000+ stars. Your responsibilities will include hands-on software engineering tasks such as development environment automation, issue triaging, and evaluating test coverage and quality. This role will allow you to explore the interaction between LLMs and real code, shaping the future of AI-assisted software development. It presents a unique opportunity to merge practical software engineering with AI research. Day-to-day activities will involve analyzing and triaging GitHub issues on popular open-source libraries, setting up and configuring code repositories (including Dockerization and environment setup), evaluating unit test coverage and quality, running and modifying codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios, collaborating with researchers to select challenging repositories and issues for LLM evaluation, and potentially leading a team of junior engineers on collaborative projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Ruby On Rails, along with proficiency in Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup. You should be adept at understanding and navigating complex codebases, comfortable with running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally, and preferably have experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects. Desirable qualifications include previous involvement in LLM research or evaluation projects, as well as experience in building or testing developer tools or automation agents.
