Job Description

    As an Electrical Battery Engineer at our organization, you will be responsible for the detailed design of traction battery pack electrical and electro-chemical hardware at component and vehicle levels. Your expertise will be crucial in serving as the interface between powertrain requirements, engineering design houses, contract manufacturers, joint development partners, and testing partners. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will play a key role in the successful development and integration of battery systems. Your primary responsibilities will include performing powertrain battery sizing exercises using various methods such as analytical, simulation/modeling, industry survey, and competitor vehicle benchmarking. You will then translate sizing requirements into pack and cell level technical specifications while managing trade-offs effectively to meet customer expectations and cost targets. Additionally, you will be tasked with owning battery cell activities, including identifying capacity, chemistry, form factor, BMS specification, and configuration. Your role will involve collaborating with contract manufacturing partners on technical aspects related to battery components. Moreover, you will work closely with the supply chain team to source battery-related components globally for an enhanced customer experience. Furthermore, you will be involved in testing samples or prototypes of cells, battery packs at different levels ranging from bench tests to vehicle riding levels. You will also collaborate with leads to integrate the battery pack into the vehicle, focusing on electrical integration and thermal management aspects. To excel in this role, you should be a multi-disciplinary problem solver, a collaborative team player, and have at least 7 years of experience in developing EV powertrain battery technologies. Startup experience would be highly desirable. Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Excel, electrical CAD, and mechanical 2D/3D CAD design tools is essential for designing and inspecting various components related to battery systems. Moreover, you should have applied knowledge in tolerance stack analysis, GD&T, IC selection, BOM generation, and PCB testing. Your experience in battery cell selection, BMS system architecture, and familiarity with communication interfaces such as CAN, ethernet, SPI, UART, and RS-485 will be valuable assets in this role. Experience in working with contract manufacturers and joint development partners to ensure scalability to high volumes and familiarity with embedded firmware development, IoT systems, and cloud storage would be advantageous for this position. A passion for motorcycles, riding, and automotive technologies would be a great addition to our team.,
