As a Hardware Board Design Engineer in the Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of hardware platforms for various applications like Storage, Compute & AI. The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team within SCHIE combines cutting-edge software and hardware expertise to create a highly programmable and high-performance ASIC capable of efficiently handling large data streams. In this role, you will develop test plans in collaboration with Hardware (Silicon & Board Design), Software (Platform & OS), and Manufacturing Test Engineers to validate new products. You will also design tests and debugging tools to validate the functionality of hardware systems, perform product validation and verification, prepare test reports, train technicians, and support Hardware Test Engineers in the development of automated test cases. **Responsibilities:** - Develop test plans to validate new products in collaboration with cross-functional teams. - Design tests and debugging tools to validate hardware system functionality. - Perform product validation and verification in field or lab environments. - Prepare and submit test reports highlighting diagnostics coverage for various components/subsystems. - Train technicians responsible for testing activities at CM/ODM sites. - Provide support to Hardware Test Engineers in developing automated test cases. **Qualifications:** **Required/Minimum Qualifications:** - 8+ years of related technical engineering experience. - Design and develop high-speed boards based on the architecture specification document. - Review hardware functional specifications and test plan documents with cross-functional teams. - Collaborate with the manufacturing team to review designs and ensure DFM requirements are met. - Test and validate hardware products to ensure compliance with specifications, requirements, and quality standards. - Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware defects, implementing preventive measures. - Experience with Schematics Design & PCB CAD tools like Cadence Orcad, Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics PADS, and Cadence Allegro. - Working experience with high-speed interfaces like PCIe/CXL, DDR, USB, UFS, SERDES, etc. - Understanding of Signal & Power Integrity concepts. - Experience working in lab environments and using equipment like DSO, Power supplies, BERT, and Traffic generators. **Additional Or Preferred Qualifications:** - 11+ years of technical engineering experience. - Experience with CM/ODM, Fault isolation, & RCCAs. - Experience with Thermal Chamber & Protocol analyzers like PCIe, DDR, USB, UFS, SPI & I3C/I2C. - Familiarity with Scripting languages like Python/Perl. #DPU #SCHIE #azurehwjobs,
