Job Description: L1 Support Engineer
(Java & SQL Focus) Location: [Remote] Work Hours: US Business Hours | On-Call Support (Weekends/Holidays) Required Experience: 6+ years (Technical Support & Java Programming)
Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and technically strong L1 Support Engineer to join our support operations team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Java programming and debugging, along with excellent SQL skills and strong communication capabilities. This role will primarily focus on issue triaging, environment setup for debugging, data fixes, and maintaining system stability by proactively identifying potential issues.
Key Responsibilities - Act as the first line of technical support, triaging and troubleshooting Java-based application issues. - Analyze and debug Java code to pinpoint root causes of issues (minimal new coding expected). - Set up and configure environments for debugging based on provided documentation. - Write and execute SQL queries (simple to complex) for data extraction, analysis, and customer workarounds. - Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams on issue status and resolution. - Monitor application performance and system health proactively. - Collaborate with engineering and operations teams for long-term fixes. - Participate in on-call rotations including US holidays and weekends. - Maintain accurate troubleshooting documentation. - Plan and manage issue resolution effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications - Java Programming & Debugging experience, especially with JSP, JDBC, JNDI. - Proficient in SQL with ability to write and analyze complex queries. - 6+ years of experience in technical support roles with programming background. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Effective planner with good organizational skills. - Proactive in identifying and resolving issues. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have (Not Mandatory) - Experience with tools like Maven, Jenkins, or Eclipse. - Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms. - Experience with application servers such as Tomcat, Weblogic, or JBOSS
